Appendix A: Job Description for the US-Based DevOps / Platform
US SHIFT - 10 PM TO 6.00AM
Engineer
Type: Full-time, Reports to: Engineering leadership

Role summary
Own and operate AWS production infrastructure in close partnership with the existing
offshore DevOps engineer, providing near-around-the-clock coverage for a consumer
automotive platform (inventory search, dealer tools, AI-led negotiation) running on AWS,
Cloudflare, and Vercel.
Key responsibilities
- Own AWS infrastructure end to end, including compute, networking, load balancing,
CDN, and identity/access management, across a multi-service production environment
built on modern web frameworks and a dedicated search infrastructure.
- Lead the rollout and ongoing maturation of CI/CD pipelines across all production
services.
- Drive edge infrastructure simplification, including evaluating and migrating routing and
traffic-management approaches as the architecture evolves.
- Build out production-grade monitoring, alerting, and incident-response tooling, and
participate in the on-call rotation.
- Own ongoing cloud cost optimization (FinOps), proactively identifying and eliminating
waste across compute, storage, and networking resources.
- Operate and tune production search infrastructure, including scaling procedures to
handle traffic surges.
- Continuously review and tighten access-control policies across the environment to
reduce overall risk exposure.
- Partner with engineering and data teams on deploys, incident response, and overall
security posture, including dependency scanning, secrets management, and uptime
monitoring.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of hands-on AWS experience: EC2, RDS, VPC, IAM, ALB/ELB, CloudFront,
CodeBuild/CodeDeploy.
- Proven experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions or
equivalent).
- Working knowledge of PostgreSQL administration; MySQL familiarity a plus.
- Scripting proficiency in Python and/or Bash for automation and operational tooling.
- Experience owning production on-call responsibilities and building observability/alerting
from the ground up.
- Comfortable working in a tightly-coupled, follow-the-sun pairing with an offshore
counterpart.
- Cost-conscious mindset; direct cloud cost optimization experience a plus.
Nice to have
- Experience with Cloudflare (DNS, WAF, Workers).
- Experience with search infrastructure (Typesense, Elasticsearch, OpenSearch, or
similar).
- Experience with Airflow or comparable workflow orchestration.
- Exposure to AI/LLM API cost-management tooling or routing layers.
